Why the wall comes first
Luxury bedrooms are not built around mattresses. They are built around walls.
The wall behind the bed is the largest uninterrupted surface in the room, the first thing the door reveals, and the plane against which every other decision — scale, symmetry, texture, light — is measured.
This is why interior designers begin where retailers end. Scale: a headboard drawn to the wall’s height rather than the mattress’s width changes the perceived proportion of the entire room. Balance: symmetry set to the architecture — the chimney breast, the window reveals, the ceiling line — reads as calm; symmetry set to the bed frame alone reads as furniture. Texture: an upholstered wall softens sound as well as light, which is why a well-dressed bedroom is also a quieter one. And light: the wall is where lighting belongs at night — low, warm and glare-free — which is only possible when it is designed into the piece rather than clipped on afterwards.

The drawing board
Every commission begins as a drawing of your wall
Before a single length of timber is cut, your headboard exists as a set of drawings: a CAD model to explore the silhouette, elevation drawings set against your wall’s true dimensions, and technical sheets that fix every panel, seam and fixing point to the millimetre.
The drawings carry everything the workshop needs — wall measurements, room proportions, tolerance checks against skirting and ceiling lines, and an installation plan written before the piece ships. You approve the drawing before anything is made.
Nothing in this studio is taken from standard stock. The drawing is the guarantee of that.

Initial consultation
We begin with the room and the people in it: how the space is used, where the light comes from, what the wall allows and what the client dreams of.

Inspiration gathering
References, photographs, saved images and half-formed ideas — everything is welcome. The studio’s work is translating instinct into intention.

CAD design development
The idea becomes a drawing: silhouettes explored, proportions tested against the room’s true dimensions, options compared side by side on screen.

Millimetre-perfect technical drawings
The chosen design is resolved into technical elevations — every panel, seam, radius and fixing dimensioned to the millimetre for one wall only.

Material specification
Fabric, timber, metal and finish are specified against real samples in the client’s own light — never from a screen.

Upholstery development
Padding depths, stitch patterns and panel tensions are developed for the chosen cloth, because velvet, bouclé and leather each ask to be worked differently.

Joinery construction
The frame is built in kiln-dried timber, cut to the drawings — the unseen architecture that will hold its geometry for decades.

What is a bespoke headboard?
A headboard designed and made for one wall: drawn to your dimensions, upholstered in your fabric, and engineered around your room rather than adapted from a standard size. Wall-mounted or bed-fixed, from a single panel to a full composition.
Can you make a full headboard wall?
Yes — headboard walls are the studio's signature work: wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling panelled installations that treat the wall behind the bed as architecture, with lighting, charging and shelving designed in from the first drawing.
What sizes can a made-to-measure headboard be?
Any size the wall asks for. Standard bed widths — single, small double, double, king, super king — or beyond them: a headboard wall is drawn to the wall's own dimensions, to the millimetre.
How long does a made-to-measure headboard take?
Orders generally take 2–4 weeks. A fully bespoke headboard wall is confirmed at the drawing stage, because the design is resolved before anything is built.
Is there a ready-made headboard I can order now?
