The Collection

Upholstered Benches

Upholstered benches made to sit at the foot of a bed, beneath a window or against a wall where the room needs somewhere to pause. Each design is drawn to coordinate with our upholstered beds and is offered in the same fabric library, so a bench can be ordered in the cloth of the bed it sits beside or in a quiet contrast of your own. The range opens with The Serpentine, a sculpted end-of-bed storage bench; further designs will join it here.

In detail

Seating designed around the bed

An end-of-bed bench finishes a bedroom the way a good frame finishes a picture: somewhere to sit while dressing, a surface for a throw, and a low horizontal line that settles the headboard at the other end of the room. The Serpentine is 161 cm wide, 46 cm deep and 47 cm high, drawn for the foot of a double, king or super king upholstered bed, with a concealed storage compartment beneath its lift-up seat.

Fabrics shared with our beds

Every bench is offered in the same fabric families and colours as our upholstered beds: Naples, velvet, linen and bouclé are included in the price, and the Premium range carries a surcharge. Order free swatches from the Fabric Atelier to see bench and bed cloth together in your own light.

Made to order, delivered to you

Benches are made to order in 2–4 weeks, delivered free and covered by our five-year guarantee.

Questions about upholstered benches

How long should an end-of-bed bench be?

A bench usually looks best a little narrower than the bed. At 161 cm, The Serpentine sits comfortably at the foot of a double (135 cm), king (150 cm) or super king (180 cm) upholstered bed, leaving the frame visible either side.

Can a bench be upholstered to match my bed?

Yes. Benches use the same fabric library as the beds, so the two can be ordered in the same family and colour. Free swatches are available if you would like to compare them first.

Do your benches have storage?

The Serpentine does: its whole seat lifts as a single lid to reveal a concealed compartment inside the base. Storage is stated on each bench's own page.
