The design

The Serpentine — sculptural by design

A sculptural upholstered end-of-bed bench with a distinctive flowing silhouette and concealed lift-up storage. An elegant combination of statement design and everyday practicality.

A bench drawn as one line

The Serpentine carries a gentle wave along both of its long edges, and the curve runs through the base as well as the seat, so the piece reads as a sculpted object from every side rather than a padded box. A soft, tailored top sits on a fully upholstered base that follows the same line all the way to the floor, with a fine piped seam marking where the two meet.

Concealed storage

The whole seat is a lid. Lift it and the base opens into a concealed storage compartment that runs beneath the bench: a place for spare bedding, cushions or the things a bedroom would rather not display. Closed, nothing shows but the curve.

Where it sits

At the foot of an upholstered bed the Serpentine gives the room a place to pause: somewhere to sit while dressing, a surface for a throw, and a low horizontal line that settles the headboard at the other end of the room. Beneath a window or in a dressing room it works just as well as a single statement piece.

Is this an end-of-bed storage bench?

Yes. At 161 cm wide, 46 cm deep and 47 cm high it is drawn for the foot of an upholstered bed, with the storage compartment beneath the lift-up seat. It also sits well beneath a window, in a hallway or at the end of a dressing room.

Can it be upholstered to match my bed?

Yes. The Serpentine is offered in the same fabric families and colours as our upholstered beds, so the two can be ordered in the same cloth. Free swatches are available from the Fabric Atelier if you would like to see them together in your own light.
