Ask what a good bed costs and most answers are either a sale price or a shrug. Here is ours, with the actual numbers from our own made-to-order range — every figure below is drawn from our live price list in August 2026, across the 26 beds we make.

What actually moves the price
Design, more than size. The spread within one size is far wider than the step between sizes: our doubles run from £630 to £4,900 — a £4,270 range — while stepping the same design from double to king costs between £90 and £400, typically around £140. If you are managing a budget, the honest lever is the silhouette you choose, not the size you sleep in. Going down a size to afford a more elaborate design is usually the wrong trade.
What the price includes here: a frame built after you order it, upholstered by hand in the fabric you choose, in a 2–4 week build cycle, with a 5-year warranty covering structural damage. Made-to-order pricing has no warehouse, no stock risk and no sale calendar built into it — nothing is made that nobody wants.
Why cheap beds are priced the way they are
A mass-produced bed is priced to survive a discount calendar: the ticket allows for the sale it will eventually be part of. A made-to-order bed is priced once, for one buyer. Neither model is dishonest — but they answer different questions. One asks "what will this sell for eventually"; the other asks "what does this cost to build properly".
The arithmetic of keeping a bed
An upholstered frame built to be re-covered changes the sum: years from now the fabric is renewed rather than the bed replaced. Spread a well-made frame over the years it actually serves and the difference between adequate and excellent is small per year of ownership — the showroom gap and the ownership gap are not the same number.

Made-to-order pricing carries no warehouse, no stock risk and no discount calendar — the bed is priced once, for one buyer, and built after it is ordered.
Does the price include a mattress?
No — these figures are for the frame. Every mattress we make carries a 60-night free trial and a 5-year warranty; the honest way to choose one is in the mattress guide.
