The Luxembourg is a luxury wavy upholstered bed defined by its flowing double-curve headboard and the sculpted wooden border that traces it. Soft fabric upholstery is the body of the design, on the headboard and on the fully upholstered base; the timber is a slim, shaped edge that follows the wave from one side to the other, giving the curve a drawn, architectural line. It is the contrast that matters: the warmth of cloth inside the discipline of wood, without the heaviness of an all-timber bed. Shown in deep chocolate brown, it is made to order in our West Yorkshire workshop in Double 4ft6, King Size 5ft and Super King 6ft, in your choice of 19 fabrics, with a front-lift storage base if you want one.
A wavy upholstered headboard framed in sculpted wood
Everything you touch is fabric. The headboard is a padded panel cut to a two-crest wave, and the wooden border is a moulded trim that runs along the top edge and down both sides, hugging the curve rather than boxing it. The wood is a frame, not the structure: a few centimetres wide, there to sharpen the silhouette and catch the light. That is what makes this an upholstered bed with wooden trim rather than a timber bed with a cushion, and it is why a curved upholstered bed with wood trim can sit in a soft, layered bedroom and still hold its shape against the wall.
What makes the Luxembourg different
An all-wood bed brings structure and little softness; a standard upholstered bed brings softness and no line. A scalloped or wavy headboard on its own gives you the curve, but in fabric alone the edge can blur. The Luxembourg takes the three together: soft upholstery, a wave silhouette, and sculpted timber edging that draws the curve crisply. It belongs in organic-modern and mid-century rooms, in warm neutral schemes, and anywhere a plain fabric bed would feel unfinished and a wooden one too hard.
Made to order in Yorkshire
Like every bed in the Signature Collection, the Luxembourg is built and upholstered to order in our West Yorkshire workshop, nothing pulled from stock. Choose it as a double, a king size or a super king wavy upholstered bed, or ask for bespoke dimensions, and choose your fabric from the library (free swatches, posted first). Orders generally take 2–4 weeks and every frame carries a 5-year structural warranty.

Living with The Luxembourg Wavy Upholstered Bed with Wooden Border
Organic-modern and mid-century rooms, warm neutral schemes, and bedrooms where the bed is the one sculptural piece. The wave reads best on a plain wall with nothing hung directly above the crests.
Let the timber edge be the only hard line: tonal linen bedding, a turned-wood or stone side table, and one lamp low enough to sit beneath the curve.
Velvet in coffee or a dark plush makes the wood and the fabric the same family; a cream bouclé or oatmeal linen turns the border into an outline. Order free swatches and hold them against the trim in daylight.

Made to order, explained
What does "made to order" mean for my bed?
Your bed does not exist yet. When you order, our atelier builds it — your size, your fabric — from the frame up. That is why it takes weeks rather than days, and why no two are quite alike.
Can you make a custom size or design?
Yes — made-to-measure is part of what we do. Speak with a Yorkshire designer and we will draw it for your room.
How does delivery work?
Doorstep delivery is free across mainland UK, Monday to Friday, with a signature on arrival. Choose room-of-choice delivery (£40) to have it carried to the bedroom, or white-glove assembly (£80) to have it built in place with the packaging taken away; both are options on this page. Northern Ireland, the Scottish Highlands and islands and the Channel Islands are quoted individually before you order. Tell us about stairs and doorways in advance and we will plan for them.
How do I choose the right fabric?
Order free swatches first — we would rather you decide with the fabric in your hand, in your own light, before the atelier cuts it.

How do I care for the upholstery?
Each fabric has its own care guidance, included with your bed, and every frame carries our five-year structural guarantee. For anything else, our returns and warranty policies are linked in the footer.
Is the Luxembourg a wooden bed or an upholstered bed?
An upholstered bed. The headboard and the base are fabric-covered; the wood is a sculpted border, a moulded trim a few centimetres wide that follows the curve of the headboard. It is a design detail and a frame, not the body of the bed.
What style of headboard does the Luxembourg have?
A wavy, double-curve headboard: two soft crests along the top edge, padded and upholstered, with a shaped wooden border running along the top and down both sides. In the trade it sits between a scalloped headboard and a serpentine one.
Does the wooden border continue onto the footboard?
No. The border belongs to the headboard only. The base, including the low 30 cm foot end, is fully upholstered in the same fabric, so the timber reads as one drawn line around the wave rather than a frame around the whole bed.
Is the Luxembourg available in Double, King and Super King?
Yes. Double 4ft6, King Size 5ft and Super King 6ft are the three sizes on this page; the dimensions table shows the footprint of each. Other sizes can be made to order.
Can the Luxembourg be made in a bespoke size or fabric?
Yes. Every Luxembourg is made to order, so the size can be drawn to your room and the headboard curve redrawn to suit, and any fabric from our library or a cloth you supply can be used. Ask before ordering and the workshop will confirm dimensions and price.
Will it fit up my stairs and through the door?
Check doorways, hallways, stairs and turns against the dimensions table on this page before you order. If you are unsure, send a photograph of the route to the workshop and we will tell you honestly whether it will fit and, if not, what we can make that does.

Which mattress fits this bed?
Any standard UK mattress in the same size. The base height in the dimensions table tells you how high the top of the mattress will sit; add your mattress depth to it. Our own mattresses are made in every size to match.
What if it arrives damaged or is not what I ordered?
Tell us within 30 days of delivery and we repair, replace or refund in full and collect from your home at our cost. Photographs help us act quickly.
Can I see the beds before I order?
Yes, by appointment at the workshop in West Yorkshire. Free fabric swatches are posted to your home so you can choose the cloth in your own light before you visit or order.
Can this bed have storage?
Yes. Every bed can be made with a front-lift storage base, built to the same size and fabric as the bed; the whole platform rises on gas struts. Choose it under Storage on this page.
